You know what's FUCKING AMAZING? Hip-hop.
It all started when I rediscovered television / stopped taking myself so seriously.
Don't worry Bauhaus, I still love you..
I've started doing the journal thing on my website instead: http://www.deadlissa.com if you're interested.
Blogger is foxier than LJ.
Still reading my F-list, though <3

A word from the defence:
Mr Gotlieb told the Herald that in the 38 years he had been working on rape trials he had seen the law go "so anti-male it's not funny".
"We've got so bloody PC," he said.
During the trial he asked whether men would have to "take a Breathalyser" out with them.
"That's how stupid we've got." [Ropati lawyer hits at police]
WHAT?! For fuck's sake.
A word from the prosecution:
"Mr Hamlin said the law was clear that consent could not be given if someone was asleep or unconscious and that video footage of the pair in the bar showed the woman was clearly affected by alcohol, "curled up in a position of sleep or the very least resting"
...
"The medical injuries [to her genitals] show blunt force trauma not consistent with consensual sex."" [Jury told not to blame woman in Ropati Case]
"Not guilty", naturally.

Nostalgia: "Smashing Pumpkins has announced a three-date tour this Easter, in a massive double-bill with Queens of the Stone Age."
I have fond memories of the Pumpkins. Oh, teen angst. I'm sure it will sell out before I'm not-poor enough to even think about buying a ticket - they'll be on sale in a week and a half - but still... mean.
QOTSA are pretty cool (but oh for the days of Kyuss)

In an unlikely instance of Myspace being awesome, a Betashine bulletin post alerted me to these tasty morsels of information:
"According to KissNews.de, KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley revealed in a new interview that the band will play the Melbourne Grand Prix 2008 and that they will be touring in Australia and New Zealand in March 2008. So far there has been no official announcement on the matter." (here/here)
Hahahahaha. Fuck yes.
Seeing Kiss these days might be kinda of a let-down. But you know what? I AM SO THERE.
Also: Split Enz announce NZ tour dates
Edit: Kiss to rock the Cake Tin - "Wellington is set for a rock and roll Easter, with flamboyant rock gods Kiss headlining a two-day concert in the capital."
Fuckin' a. Welly <33333333

"Astronomers discovered a huge black hole orbiting a star 1.8 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Cassiopeia, with a record-setting mass of 24 to 33 times that of the sun. In this artist's portrayal by Aurore Simonnet of Sonoma State University, the black hole lies at the upper left and its companion star is on the right." Yarrr. [Black holes may harbour their own universes | Editorial: Loop quantum gravity increases its pull].

"'On October 19th, the waters of Rome’s famous Trevi Fountain turned blood red when a man threw paint into the basin in a bizarre act of vandalism apparently inspired by the Futurists of the early 20th century." via the Wooster Collective (linked to with love, btw)
Anyway...
Friday was a pretty sweet deal.
Went to the Joy Division party. Popped out for a cigarette and ended up in the Alt studio. Rambled to various people about various things. Met some new folks. Laughed a lot. Woke up with a terrible hangover.
The only downside was losing track of Craig and Liz - the bar had become packed full of crazy-dancers by the time I arrived back!

Mind That Child:
"A convicted paedophile who abused 40 children says parents are ignorant of the dangers they put their young ones in every day.
The man - who over the course of decades abused children in swimming pools, in malls and on public transport - said his offending crossed socio-economic boundaries, cultures and religions.
"I'm surprised with a lot of things I got away with," he said..."
Read the whole article. It gets much worse.
That the Dominion Post could uncritically publish the 'advice' of a sexual predator speaks volumes about how deeply fucked up mainstream media is.
How about, instead of trying to shift the blame for sexual offending on to the parents of abused children, we point the finger at the men who are doing the offending?
""People are calling for the Government to do more, but at the end of the day, it is a parent's responsibility to keep their children safe."..."
OR HOW ABOUT IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO NOT BE AN ABUSIVE PIECE OF SHIT.
*vomits*
